Introducing Lake Tahoe Area

Lake Tahoe:  A Winter Adventure

Enjoy skiing and other winter sports in the Lake Tahoe area

Lake Tahoe is a large freshwater lake in the Sierra Nevada mountains straddling the California/Nevada border. Historic Carson City, the capital of Nevada, is to the east of Lake Tahoe. Carson City is midway between Reno and the lovely town of South Lake Tahoe on the southern edge of the lake. We will reside in the lakeside complex of Lakeland Village in South Lake Tahoe.

Many ski resorts dot the Lake Tahoe area. In addition to downhill skiing, many winter sports abound, such as cross country skiing, snowmobiling, snow shoeing, ice skating, and tubing,

From Lakeland Village where we will reside, take a beach stroll on Lake Tahoe or take a short walk to picturesque Ski Run Marina and enjoy its small courtyard with shops and restaurants.  (Thursday through Saturday is when most are open)

In addition we have a day trip planned to nearby historic Carson City, capital city of Nevada. (this event is dependent on pooled cars). Here guests can enjoy a dip in Carson Hot Springs, visit the Nevada State Museum where they can walk through a reconstructed old mine, and walk around the historic district. (for more details on winter activities being offered on this trip, visit the “Winter Activities Summary” posting on this blog)

Three world class sister resorts, Heavenly, Kirkwood, and Northstar California, all are within a short distance to each other overlooking Lake Tahoe.

Heavenly Ski Resort in South Lake Tahoe is the largest ski resort in the area (out home base)

Kirkwood Ski Resort is a true mountain escape (day trip)

Northstar California Ski Resort has world class amenities (day trip)
